1. Who We Are

Welcome to My Story Steps, a creative storytelling website designed especially for children aged 5–14. We care deeply about your privacy and safety, and this policy explains how we handle your information.

2. What Information We Collect

We do not collect personal information such as your name, email, or photo.

When you sign in using Google Sign-In, we use a service called Firebase Authentication to help you log in and save your stories. This gives us a unique user ID (called UID) that we use to connect your stories to you — and nothing more.

We do not:

  • Access your Google email address
  • See your real name
  • Collect your birthday or profile picture

3. Children's Privacy

We follow the rules of:

  • The Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA) in the United States
  • The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) in the European Union
  • The Israeli Protection of Privacy Law

Children under 13 are only allowed to use My Story Steps if they are signed in with a Google account supervised by a parent through Google Family Link. Google handles parental consent and supervision of these accounts.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13 outside of this process.

4. How We Use Information

We use your Firebase UID to:

  • Save the stories you create
  • Let you continue your stories later

We do not use your information for:

  • Ads
  • Marketing
  • Selling to third parties

We do not use cookies or trackers to follow you around the internet.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your story data is stored securely on Google Firebase servers in the European Union (eu-west-1). We do our best to keep it safe and private.

Only our team can access this data — and only for the purpose of helping you create and manage stories.

6. Parental Rights

If you're a parent or guardian and want to:

  • Review your child's data
  • Ask us to delete it
  • Ask questions about how we handle privacy

7. Sharing Your Stories

If you choose to share your story, we may give you a special link. This link is anonymous — it does not include your name or any personal details. You can delete shared stories at any time.

We recommend that parents supervise story sharing.

We may update this policy in the future. When we do, we'll post the changes on this page and update the date at the top.
